Artwork and words

I struggled with interpreting the theme of community a bit. Community to me involves connecting and feeling involved with the people around you. But there’s also the community I stay connected to via my phone. Some bits in this artwork are random pieces from conversations and others have greatly impacted me over the past two months. Like my Dad, he can barely use his phone and just knows how to make basic calls, so when he texted me back with “Hi K” it almost made me cry as we’ve been trying for years to get him to text. Conversations with my friends, even if just to text one another an “I love you” mean so much to me amongst the hustle of a busy day.

I really need to stay connected to my life back in London and messaging helps me with this. If I lost my phone, I probably would be lost. I understand the intention behind less screen time but to me, my texts throughout the day are important to me.
